State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain has said that the Prime Minister has agreed to run limited public transport from May 31. He told the media about this information on Wednesday (May 26) at around 8 pm.
The state minister said public transport will be able to operate with limited number of passengers in compliance with the health rules. Shipping and trains will also run, he said.
Earlier in the afternoon, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said the general holiday would not be extended after May 31. He confirmed that a notification will be issued on Thursday (May 26). The state minister said private vehicles would be allowed to drive till June 15. He said public transport, railways and passenger boats would not run even if the holidays did not increase. However, private airlines will be able to start flying under their own management.
“We have received the notification signed by the prime minister a while ago,” he added. Due to the outbreak of corona in the country, the government holiday has been extended several times since March 26, but this time the holiday will not be extended after May 30. However, from May 31 to June 15, everyone has to work in the office in accordance with the rules of health. Elderly and pregnant women do not come to the office. For now, schools and colleges will be closed till June 15. However, classes can be taken online.
He added that all government semi-government offices will open from May 31. State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said the decision was taken to keep all offices open to a limited extent to keep economic activities going.
He said traffic would be limited from 8 pm to 8 am as before. Hatbazar shops will run till 4 pm. Meanwhile, religious gatherings will remain open even if public gatherings and gatherings are banned.
The government has declared a general holiday from March 26 to April 4 if the situation continues to deteriorate after the first case of coronavirus was detected in the country in early March.
